The Special Meal

Howdy!

I've been scrambling to finish my current educational project in time for the November 9th due date. There are a total of 12 images and I was given only 19 days to complete them. Factoring in my part-time job and the fact that I also have a life, I'm cutting it a bit close but I've been trying to plow through them faster than I ever have done before.

I've got four more to finish, and four days in which to finish them.

OOF.

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Edu work may be the bread and butter of the children's illustration industry as well as the sole contributor to all of my work at the moment, but just because I DO it doesn't mean I LIKE it.

It's difficult to be satisfied with your work when you have to work so quickly. It might pay the bills but it makes you feel badly about yourself and your capabilities as an artist.

Anyway, at least with this project I'm trying to have some fun with color and I'm experimenting with a sketchier, less refined style that allows me to work faster. There are always positives to every job but after this one I may need a break from larger educational projects.
